 |
The BenQ P50 cell phone is a Pocket PC 2003 based phone which was announced in early 2004. It hit the markets almost a year later as there were some delays on its launch. You will find more details about its features in this BenQ P50 review.
When the readers got the first look at its features they were happy to see that it was running the latest Windows Mobile for Pocket PC 2003SE operating system and came with Bluetooth and WiFi in addition to GSM functionality. These are features that make it a great communication device.
Like other PDA's for example the XDA II mini, the P50 also runs Windows Mobile for Pocket PC 2003SE Phone Edition. This means that unlike the other Windows Mobile for Smartphone operating system, the BenQ P50 mobile phone has a touch-sensitive screen and the GUI is similar to the Pocket PCs around these days. Another nice feature of the BenQ P50 cell phone is little QWERTY keyboard. The keys are slightly small and might give a person with big hands a few headaches.
The usual Pocket PC buttons can be found on this BenQ P50 mobile phone. The navigation pad and the call answer button along with the contact buttons on the left and the call disconnect and calendar button on the right.
The phone has a slot for SD card and more advanced features like GPS and FM radio can be added through an SD card. As for the software, the phone is very rich.
The BenQ P50 cellphone has Pocket PC application (MSN Messenger, Word, Excel and Windows Media Player 10) you also get a other applications like Speech Commander, which is a voice recognition application which allows you to control your BenQ P50 mobile phone with voice command. You can get BenQ P50 themes, BenQ P50 games and BenQ P50 accessories from the internet and there are lot of BenQ P50 details on this site.
Pocket PC extras can also be purchased like BenQ P50 accessories and when you buy BenQ P50 you get a lot of BenQ P50 accessories with it. BenQ P50 ringtones can also be changed according to the user’s preferences.
As for wireless communication BenQ P50 mobile phone supports quad-band GSM (900/1800/850/1900) but unfortunately, the BenQ P50 mobile phone only supports GPRS for data transfer and not EDGE (Enhanced Data Rates for GSM Evolution). Also no 3G (third generation) network support is provided.
There are many websites selling the BenQ P50 cellphone and you can also buy cheap BenQ P50 from some sites when you go for a long term contract. Do keep an eye on the BenQ P50 sale on various phone sites.
